The Exploration of Modalities

I’ve been super curious in my spiritual journey and have dove into a variety of modalities. I’ve checked out different energy healing modalities, such as Reiki, Eden Energy Healing, and the Emotion Code. I’ve learned about crystals, pendulums, and dowsing rods. I’ve studied tarot cards, oracle cards, astrology, and Human Design. I’ve even dipped into acupressure and palm reading. These 10 listed topics don’t even cover all of the metaphysical topics I’ve studied.

At times I have felt despondent that I’d never find my one true calling. I felt ashamed and embarrassed when I’d get lit up by a new subject and excitedly share it with my loved ones. I’d imagine they were thinking “oh no, here she goes again with yet another thing!” This line of thinking has recently shifted for me. I’m not sure if it was hearing someone be lovingly teased about the same thing on a podcast, if I’m in a different energetic space due to recent healing, or if because I stumbled across a through-line between two modalities. I’ve realized that all of the learning and exploring I do is for a purpose. I assemble data, process preferences, and apply the bits and pieces that resonate. I pull across modalities and meld them into my own thing. I’m finding joy in this discovery and developing my own approach.

The next time you’re hard on yourself or others for jumping from thing to thing, take a look at how we humans generally learn and grow. No one faults a child when they switch from wanting to be a ninja when they grow up to wanting to be an archeologist. No one shames a teenager when they change their college majors from English to Computer Science. No one speaks poorly of a medical student when they switch from being an orthopedic surgeon to a dermatologist. Humans learn, grow, and adapt based on knowledge and information they encounter, and the best way for this is exploration.

Be wary of those who identify with a specific theology and never explore alternate perspectives, for this breeds ignorance and intolerance.
